We’re Saddleback Church

We exist to urgently lead people to say “yes” to Jesus and his purposes for their lives.

We exist to urgently lead people to say “yes” to Jesus and his purposes for their lives.

Our Story

Saddleback Church started with two young church planters, a dream, and a map. God gave Pastor Rick and Kay Warren the dream to plant a church for people who didn’t like church, and he led them to Southern California.

Our first service was held on April 6, 1980. Over the next 43 years, we witnessed God perform miracle after miracle as we moved locations, raised money for permanent buildings, launched campuses in California and around the world, and baptized over 50,000 people.

In September 2022, we welcomed Pastor Andy Wood as our new lead pastor.

In May 2023, we took another step of faith by launching our first bilingual extension in Mexico City, under the leadership of Garland and Esther Wong.

As we step into the future, we’re believing God will do more than we could ever ask for or imagine. Our best days are ahead, and we can’t wait to see all the ways God will change lives in years to come!

Frequently Asked Questions

Saddleback church is a Christ-centered church where everyone is welcome. It doesn’t matter who you are, or where you come from. Here you will find love, acceptance and a place to belong.

The name comes from the place where it was founded and where the main campus is located today. Saddleback (Orange County, California).

We have 15 locations in Southern California and five international campuses. As well as extensions in many other countries around the world including Mexico.

If there isn’t a campus near you, join our online community!

The Saddleback CDMX Extension is a group of people who meet regularly on Sundays to do church, and is in the process of growing into a campus. The message is projected live from Saddleback’s central campus in California and music may be live on occasionally.

We are bilingual because we are located in a multicultural area of Mexico City, where people of different nationalities do church together.

Our typical weekend services last about 60-70 minutes, with worship and a message.

Most people dress very casually when they attend a service — t-shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes. But you are welcome to wear whatever you’d like!

Saddleback Xtension Kids (SXK) is our program for kids from birth through 6th grade. When you arrive at the extension, follow the footprints on the floor that are there to guide you to our Saddleback Kids area.

The Bridge, is our outreach program where teens and young adults share together once a month for a time of fellowship, learning and fun.
